Duke Nukem 3D grew from same team that created Rise of the Triad, after-all; these are characters which came from the DOOM Bible. You seriously think being able to use a monitor to see other sections of a map and use said info to setup a strategy is a gimmick? And what, you believe that DOOM is the only FPS to feel like combat chess? DOOM, the one without jumping or crouching, thats the only game that feels like combat chess? I mean, have you ever played literally any other FPS, its kind of a requirement.The boot is an amazing melee addition and one of the best things you can do in Brutal DOOM, John Romero said that if they had released BD instead of DOOM II: Hell on Earth, it would have shattered the competition, and again BD is DOOM + all the best Build Engine mechanics (Duke, Blood, Shadow Warrior). Its also whats missing from Ion Maiden, like a sore thumb, and everyone that played DN3D is like WTF, why can't Shelly quick melee?Jumping and crouching were added to Quake and later to DOOM; imitation is the highest form of flattery and that is not just my opinion.
